New Orleans Street Corner

I'm trying to do more cityscape and landscape painting. It gets me out of the studio. Here is a quick sketch I did of a street corner in New Orleans in the French Quarter.

I toned the panel with black gesso. I love doing night scenes on black canvas and pulling out just the lights.

New Orleans is also one of my favorite places to visit....I can get enough of those beignets they have at the Cafe Du Monde, not to mention the Gumbo.

Old Holland Peppers

I've never seen a pepper this color before! It's called a Brown Holland Pepper, actually they are both Holland peppers, but this one looked more like a brick red. I really had fun painting them.
It's up for auction!
