Facebook Challenge Day 5 - Framed Work

I'm a bit rushed today because I have to leave for the Cleveland Comic Con tonight!
I will be posting images here after the event, but I will be posting shots as they happen on Facebook so add me there too! All of the paintings below except this first one (because of it's size) will be at the convention with me so you can see them in person if you are in Cleveland this weekend.

"Almost" 40 x 32 Oil on Linen

 "Fairytale Eggplants and Mushrooms" 10 x 20

"Three Copper Pots" 10 x 20 Oil on Panel

"Fairytale Mushrooms" 10 x 20 Oil on Panel

  "Figs" 6 x 12 Oil on Panel

"All Sorts Of Apples" 10 x 20 Oil on Panel

Facebook Challenge Day 4 - My First Year Of Still-Life Painting

It was requested that I post some older work. These are paintings from 2005, the first year I started painting still-lifes. All are Oil on Linen except the one with the mason jar. That is a pastel.

"Antique Playthings" 46 x 46 Oil on Linen
Almost four feet by four feet - One of the largest paintings I have made.

 "Faerie Tales" 16 x 24

One of my first pastels - 16 x 20 on pastel board.
Unfortunately it was destroyed in a move and this tiny 400 pixel wide shot is all I have.

 "Quarter To Three" 18 x 24

16 x 24 Oil on Linen

Facebook Painting Challenge - Day 3: Still Life and Set

I prefer to work from life. I love being able to see how the light hits an object. If I have the time, I will usually build a set, sometimes a very elaborate set and paint directly from life.
Here are a few shots of some still-lifes and the sets, I don't think I have posted before.

Facebook Painting Challenge Day 2: Drawing With A Brush

All of these are the drawing stages of my finished paintings with the finished work as the inset. I draw with Princeton Watercolor brushes 4050R sizes 1 - 5. I use Burnt Umber and White for the drawing.

Facebook Painting Challenge - Day 1

I was asked to post a few paintings each day for this Facebook thing that is going around. On one hand I am more busy than ever, but I figured how long can it take to post a few photos of paintings each day.

I actually decided to start it with some very old figure drawings some were made just after I graduated from school.

Above left is a two minute gesture. I personally think that two minute gestures are the most important drawings that can be done. It's when I learn the most. Top right is a twenty minute pose. Both done from life.

Above is a Twenty minute pose on toned paper. Below is a drawing I did in 2000. Two models had shown up for the same class and rather than send one home both models posed. This was a three hour pose, one sitting. Of all of the drawings I have done in my life, this is one them that I am the most proud of.
